Jamie Elzea



Jamie is the Owner of Nurtureways, where she serves as a mental health clinician, prenatal to five workforce development trainer, non-profit leadership coach and consultant.


Jamie has extensive direct practice experience with young children and caregivers from a variety of roles over her career (doula, parent educator and support group facilitator, early childhood educator, and perinatal and infant/early childhood mental health clinician). Additionally, she has been a systems leader in the field of infant and early childhood mental health serving as college parent education faculty, reflective supervision consultant, IECMH policy advocate, and as a past Executive Director of the Washington Association for Infant Mental Health.


Jamie has long been a champion for developmentally appropriate diagnosis in early childhood. In 2019, she co-founded the Washington State Prenatal through Five Relational Health subgroup of state’s legislative Children and Youth Behavioral Health Work Group and served as its first chair. In 2021 their advocacy led to the adoption of House Bill SB1325 that launched significant Medicaid supports for best practices in early childhood mental health diagnosis. As one of the first Zero to Three certified DC:0-5 trainers in Washington State, Jamie has trained hundreds of clinicians and allied prenatal through five providers in developmentally appropriate early childhood diagnosis and mental health referral practices.
